Turandot set for two performances at UCA

CONWAY Two performances of Puccini’s Turandot are scheduled for the Captured Live from the Met @ UCA series. One performance is set for 2 p.m. on Sunday with the other at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both will be in the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas.
Turandot, Puccini’s last opera, which premiered in Milan on April 25, 1926, will be the third of nine high definition transmissions of Metropolitan Opera performances in the series sponsored by UCA’s College of Fine Arts and Communication.
The Met series will continue with Offenbach’s Les Contes D’Hoffmann at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20; Richard Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 10; Bizet’s Carmen at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 17, and at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19; Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 7; Thomas’ Hamlet at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 28, and at 7:30p.m. Monday, March 29; and Rossini’s Armida at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 2.
This is the fourth season of the Met’s series, which came to UCA last year. The transmissions are now shown in more than 900 theaters in 42 countries.
Approximately 200 seats are available for each performance at UCA. Tickets are $15 for the public and $5 for students with valid I.D.
