— Police in Berryville say a 24-year-old northwest Arkansas man found shot to death and buried in a shallow grave was killed by a co-worker for his identity.

A police news release says Christopher Helmlinger of Berryville was shot once in the head by 34-year-old Ervin Lee Davis Jr. Davis surrendered to police in McAllen, Texas, on Nov. 1 and was extradited back to Arkansas during the weekend on a capital murder charge.

He’s now in the Carroll County jail without bond. It was not immediately clear whether Davis had an attorney.

Police say Davis is also wanted in Andrew County, Mo., for auto theft.

Helmlinger was last seen alive Sept. 28 by co-workers at the Tyson Foods Inc. processing plant where he and Davis worked. He was reported missing Oct. 4 by family members and his body was found Oct. 18.
