Scrappers, state playoffs go hand in hand

The emergence of hunter orange each November in Arkansas signals the start of modern gun deer season and, just as important to most people in Howard County, orange-clad Nashville’s drive toward another state championship.

Nashville has won 116 games this decade - more than any other school in Arkansas - and is riding one of the greatest waves of success in state history.

The Class 4A Scrappers have won 76 of their past 80 games, highlighted by state championships in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

The quest for a fifth state title since 1996 begins tonight at Scrapper Stadium, when Nashville (10-0) hosts Fordyce in one of 44 first-round playoff games scheduled to be played around the state.

I was a pastor in Nashville from 1993 to 1997. The football program was thrilling...living in the town of Nashville was energizing.
