COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Clarke ‘on fire’with 51 points

Sophomore guard Rotnei Clark came out hot for Arkansas in Friday night’s season opener and never cooled off.

Clarke set Arkansas and Walton Arena records with 51 points and SEC and UA records with 13 three-point baskets to lead the Razorbacks to a 130-68 victory over Alcorn State before an announced crowd of 7,713.

“He threw us on his back tonight and just had an unbelievable performance,” Arkansas Coach John Pelphrey said. “I haven’t seen a better shooting performance than that. That was really, really remarkable.”

Compared to Clarke’s game, junior forward Jemal Farmer had a quiet 28 points in his Arkansas debut.

Unbelievable! Great job, Rotnei! I was there when Dillard set the old mark, and it was amazing. I wish I had been there for this one. In fact, I wish a lot more than 7,713 people had been there for this one. Let's all go when we can and support our Hogs. Whoo Pig!

Congratulations, Rotnei! I've never seen stats like that from anyone, anywhere. It has to go down as one of the greatest shooting performances ever in the 3-pointer era.
