— MONDAY Author Presentation ARKADELPHIA - Ouachita Baptist University will host guest speaker and Ouachita alumnus C. Edward Spann in a presentation about his book Presidential Praise: Our Presidents and Their Hymns at 7:30 p.m. in Hickingbotham Hall’s Young Auditorium on Ouachita’s campus. Spann, retired dean of the College of Fine Arts at Dallas Baptist University, centered the book around three years of research in which he discovered the favorite hymns of each president and their significance. Teddy Bears/ Mystery Night BENTON - Ages birth to 6 years are invited to PJs and Teddy Bears, and ages 7 to 12 are invited to Cracks in the Wall mystery night at 6 p.m. at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library in Benton. PJs and Teddy Bears participants are invited to come in their pajamas and bring their favorite teddy bear for an evening of games, crafts, stories and cookies and milk. Children 7 to 12 will use their best detective skills to solve a crime that has occurred in the library. Registration for the mystery night event is required. Gardening Workshop HOT SPRINGS - Martien Bakens returns to present usable recipes to boost the immune system and ways to work with herbs during a holistic herbs workshop from 9:30 a.m. to noon and from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at Garvan Woodland Gardens. Bakens is an energy healer, Aroma therapist and counselor. Martien received his formal training in Europe in various holistic healing modalities in both Eastern and Western traditions. Both workshops are free to Gardens members or those previously registered as volunteers of the Gardens. WEDNESDAY Care Program BENTON - Bill Mathews of LTC Financial Partners will present a program regarding the details of long-term care from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library in Benton. Film Night ARKADELPHIA - The Center for International Programs at Henderson State University will sponsor the first International Film Night at 7 p.m. in the Garrison Center Lecture Hall. Beginning this year, the annual event will screen a movie or documentary that has an international impact and gives the campus and community a chance to learn more about the world outside of Arkadelphia. The first film will be the documentary As We Forgive by Laura Winter Hinson. The film runs for about one hour, and six Henderson students from Rwanda will serve as a discussion panel for questions following the screening. The event is free and open to the public. THURSDAY Charlotte’s Web BRYANT - The Bryant High School Theatre Department will present the children’s classic Charlotte’s Web to all area elementary school students the week of Thursday through Monday, Nov. 23. Aperformance is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 22, for the public in Love Auditorium, Building 9 at Bryant High School. Tickets for the public show are $5 and can be purchased at the door.

Shows for the elementary schools begin at 10 a.m. Charlotte’s Web is on the required reading list, and third-graders are especially encouraged to attend.
