Hillbilly comedian Bob Burns has been on my mind lately. I have been reading a fine new book by Arkansas historian Brooks Blevins on the bipolar history of the state’s image, Arkansas/Arkansaw: How Bear Hunters, Hillbillies, and Good Ol’ Boys Defined a State (University of Arkansas Press). Bob Burns receives considerable attention from Blevins.
