CONWAY The Conway Symphony Orchestra will feature two classical music giants, Ludwig van Beethoven and Richard Wagner, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall at the University of Central Arkansas.
Beethoven’s well-known and energetic 7th Symphony will be paired with “Prelude and Love-Death” from Wagner’s groundbreaking opera Tristan and Isolde.
Tickets are available at the Reynolds Box Office, by phone at (501) 450-3265 or toll free at (866) 810-0012, and online at www.uca.edu/tickets. Prices range from $5 to $35, with discounts for children, students and the UCA community. The concert is underwritten by Regions Bank.
An intimate pre-concert Conductor Conversation with CSO Music Director Israel Getzov about the stories behind the music will begin at 6:45 and is included in the ticket price.
Getzov said Beethoven’s 7th is known for its rhythmic energy.
“In particular the secondmovement is dark, wonderful and passionate,” Getzov said.
He said the two selections go well together and are two of the great staples of the classicalrepertoire. He added Wagner’s intense, slow movements contrast with Beethoven’s exciting rhythms to release the intensity.
