— Dallas County authorities say a man convicted of attempted capital murder who jumped off a garbage truck rather than return to the county jail at Fordyce has turned himself in.

Officials say Jacario C. Cranford, 19, surrendered Wednesday to the sheriff’s office.

Cranford fled the garbage crew Tuesday afternoon as the truck approached the jail. He had been working on the garbage-truck detail for several weeks.

Cranford is serving a 10-year sentence for attempted capital murder and aggravated robbery.
