Patrons of a Wal-Mart at Mountain Home will soon be able to buy beer and wine from the store.
The state Alcoholic Beverage Control Board voted 5-0 Wednesday to overturn ABC Director Michael Langley’s Aug. 20 rejection of the application.
Langley routinely rejects permit requests if anyone voices objections to the permit, to allow the ABC Board to make the decision. He said local residents had opposed the permit for the Wal-Mart store at Mountain Home.
No officials from Mountain Home or Baxter County showed up at Wednesday’s ABC Board meeting to oppose the permit.
The permit granted by the board allows the store to sell beer and “small-farm” wines from wineries that produce 250,000 gallons or less of wine per year.
