— Amanda Irby, RN, of Conway has been appointed the new clinical director of the Conway Regional Emergency Services Department.

Irby has more than 11 years of experience in nursing including eight years of providing emergency care at Conway Regional.

“It seemed like a natural step for me,” she said of becoming the new emergency department clinical director. “I have functioned as a charge nurse in the ER and enjoyed the experience. This is a huge honor for me, and I am very grateful for this opportunity.” As clinical director, Irby oversees the work of 75 employees in the Emergency Services Department on a regular basis, including physicians, nurses and unlicensed personnel. The emergency department treats about 42,000 visitors each year. She assumed her duties on Oct. 26.

Irby holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree from Harding University and is a graduate of Marvell Academy in Marvell.

She is married and has two sons.
