WASHINGTON - Democratic leaders in the Senate unveiled their proposal Wednesday for overhauling the health-care system, outlining legislation that they said would cover most of the uninsured while reducing the federal budget deficit.
Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada, the majority leader, said at an evening news conferencethat the legislation, which represents President Barack Obama’s signature domestic initiative and will be subject to lengthy and heated debate on the Senate floor, would impose new regulations on insurers, extend coverage to 31 million people who currently do not have any and add new benefits to Medicare.
And he said the bill, despite having a price tag of$849 billion over 10 years, would still reduce projected budget deficits by $127 billion over ...

What We Know About the Senate Health Care Plan
There is still much to learn about the Senate health care plan, but we know a few things already.
The Senate bill does not have a price tag. The Democrats are touting a cost of $849 billion, but that number is a fabrication.
From Roll Call we learn that “one Senate Democratic leadership staffer acknowledged that the cost estimate did not even represent an official preliminary score from the CBO but was a representation of “preliminary feedback” that Reid has gotten from the nonpartisan Congressional agency.”
In other words, we do not know how much it will actually cost. Why not? There is a reason.
We also know that the Senate has severely weakened the pro-life language of the legislation. It comes no where close to the Stupak amendment language.
We also know that the legislation purports to cut the deficit. How? By massive and painful tax increases, including raising the payroll tax on medicare.
Finally, we know that now some Democrats are leaning against a vote on the “motion to proceed.” Any Senator who votes for the motion to proceed is, in effect, voting for the legislation. Harry Reid needs all sixty of the Democrats.
So if Lincoln and Pryor vote to 'proceed' and then later vote against they are in truth voting for the bill. It is a 'GAME" where they think you are stupid, 'I voted against it' but the key vote is for cloture or to 'proceed'.
Don't let them lie to us and come back home with the cheser cat grin....vote no on everything or tell the truth for once.

Seinfeld fans should love Harry Reid's health scare plan. Reid wants to spend almost a trillion of your tax dollars over the next decade for ... nothing.
According to reports, Reid's plan would leave 24 million people uninsured in 2019. That is approximately the same number of people that some studies show who are currently uninsured because they can't afford health insurance.
One dirty, big secret that Dr. Reid, Nurse Nancy, and Orderly Obama don't want you to know is that a significant number of uninsured Americans can afford health insurance; they just choose not to purchase it. Many are the 'young invincibles' who don't give health care a first, much less a second, thought. Others are those wealthy and healthy enough that they can self-insure.
According to a recent paper by Drs. June and Dave O'Neill of Baruch College, the City University of New York, two national studies--the National Health Interview Survey and the Current Population Survey--put the number of folks who don't have health insurance because they can't afford it at 21.6 million. That's almost exactly the number that Dr. Reid's big spending plan would leave uninsured.
After spending $848 billion, of course. And the real numbers are closer to 2.4 trillion dollars. Another bait and switch scheme.
You will be taxed for 4 years and then have 6 years of spending. In other words it is like paying on a car for 4 years before you get to drive it. Makes sense huh?
