Arkansas jobless rate hits 7.6 percent in October

Arkansas’ unemployment rate rose half a percentage point to 7.6 percent in October, the highest joblessness rate in more than 21 years, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said Friday.
Still Arkansas is weathering the wracked economy better than many states in the country. The 7.6 percent unemployment rate is the 17th-lowest in the country.
The U.S. joblessness rate was 10.2 percent in October.
