Rison girl named Arkansas State Fair queen

Rodeo queen honor goes to Springdale girl

Sloane Roberts, 17, of Rison, has named the 2009 Arkansas State Fair Queen in competition Saturday evening at the Arkansas State Fair in Little Rock.

Sloane Roberts, 17, of Rison has been named the 2009 Arkansas State Fair Queen in competition Saturday evening at the Arkansas State Fair in Little Rock.

Roberts is a senior at Rison High School where she is on the Beta Club, Drama Club and Fellowship of Christian Students. The brown-eyed brunette beauty is the Cleveland County Fair Queen and is also the state secretary for the Arkansas State Beta Club and has volunteered for four years with the Arkansas Attorney General's Office on missing children's issues.

She was the 2008 Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen and second runner-up to Miss America's Outstanding Teen.

A dance teacher for Fabulous Feet in Rison, she also is a competitive dancer for the company's North Little Rock office.

She is the daughter of John and Michelle Roberts.

Roberts was also named recipient of the Ivy Faulk Award for the most outstanding judge’s interview.

Kirbi Allen, 20, of Springdale was named 2009 Arkansas State Fair Rodeo Queen. She was crowned Saturday night during the rodeo in Barton Coliseum on the state fairgrounds.

Allen is a student at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville where she is a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, the Block and Bridle Club, Broken Arrow Round Up Club and the University of Arkansas Equine Club.

The blonde-haired blue-eyed beauty rode a Palomino mare named Lena’s Judgement.

Allen was just first runner-up as Miss Tulsa State Fair Queen, 2009 Miss Rooster Days Rodeo Queen, 2008 University of Arkansas Equine winner, 2008 Miss Rodeo Mid-South Queen and 2007 Miss Teen Rodeo Arkansas.

She loves Quarter Horse shows, reining and helping younger girls get started in the queen contests. She is a volunteer for Horses for Healing and involved with Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families as a volunteer with their Soup Sunday project.

Allen is the daughter of Charlie and Theresa Allen and sponsored by Flying A Ranch. She has a younger brother, Derek and a family dog, Coughy.
