BOWLING: Jacksonville’s Smith constructs fourth 800 series

— Robert Smith, 42, of Jacksonville blasted the pins for games of 279, 269 and 260 for an 808 series and his fourth 800 in the Ten Pin Mixed League at Allfam Bowl.

“It was an error-free series, and I left the 7-pin the ninth frame of the 279,” said Smith, a general contractor. “I was mostly in the pocket all night, hitting 30 of a possible 36 strikes.”

Smith started bowling at Pike Lanes in North Little Rock and averages 224. He has an 850 high, also Allfam high, six 300 games, three 299s and four 11-strikes-in-arow awards.

CHADDEN’S 10TH 300

Matt Chadden of Little Rock, the mechanic at Millennium Bowl, rang up his 10th 300 game in the Millennium First League at the Maumelle center. He posted games of 215, 300 and 217 for a 732 series.

“I was having trouble with my release the first game,” Chadden said. “The 11th ball is always the hardest for me for some reason.”

Chadden, 28, who started bowling at 3 in Wilmington, Ill., used a Hammer Psycho ball and averages 230.

He has four 800 series with 827 high, four 299 games, and three 11-strikes-in-a-row awards.

NEWCOMER AT HOME

Dave Newcomer of Pearcy kicked off the Hot Springs Classic League at Central Lanes with his 20th 300 game, then followed with games of 224 and 235 for a 779 series.

Newcomer, 48, self-employed, started bowling at 7 at Fairlanes. He has four 800 series with 822 high, 10 299s, two 298s and a 225 triplicate series.

FALLS ROLLS 2ND 300

In the same four-game league, Matt Falls followed games of 212, 243, 269 with his second 300 game.

“I shot the first two games with an Ebonite Evolve ballthat began overreacting during the second game. I had the front six [strikes] then spared out,” Falls said. “I changed to an Ebonite Magic ball and had the front eight before leaving a 4-pin.

“I adjusted for that and overcame my jitters although the 11th and 12th balls of the 300 were a little fast and a touch high.”

Falls, 21, the pro shop operator at Central, started bowling at 5 at Central. He averages 214 and 232, has a 290 game and a 765 high.

THE RIGHT MOVE

Danny Fuller followed games of 243 and 207 with his 22nd 300 game for a 750 series in the Big 10 League at Enterprise Lanes in Benton.

“The lanes changed like crazy on me, so I finally moved three boards inside each with my ball and feet,” Fuller said. “Made the right move at the right time.”

Fuller, 55, of Little Rock, is the chemistry stockroom manager at Hendrix College. He started bowling at 10 at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii.

He has 10 800 series with 854 high, five 299s, four 298s, 11 11-strikes-in-a-row awards including, seven 290s, and four 279s. He used a Storm Gravity Shift ball and averages 241 and 250.

JEFFERY ADDS ANOTHER 700

Dee Dee Jeffery, 40, of Newport, a respiratory therapist, shot games of 225, 237 and 277 for a 739 series in the Millennium Mixed League at Millennium Bowl.

It was her 80th 700 series to go with an 815 high, oneeach 300, 299 and 298 games, and seven 11 strikes-in-a-row awards.

Jeffrey started bowling at 5 at Bentonville Bowl.

BENTON’S FINEST

Stacy Heath, 31, of Alexandria, a secretary at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, shot games of 251, 225 and 231 for a 707 series in the Benton’s Finest Ladies League at Enterprise Lanes.

The 707 was the seventh for Heath, who started bowling at 14 at Professor Bowl West. She has highs of 800 and 287.

40TH 700 FOR COVERT

Cindy Covert ran off games of 244, 247 and 213 for a 704 series in the Thursday Men’s League at Enterprise Lanes.

An Angel One flight nurse for Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, Covert, 42, started bowling at 6 at Dyersburg, Tenn.

Covert, of Benton, has one each 300, 299 and 290 games. She has 40 700 series with 762 high.

DIS ’N’ DATA

Joni Long with 255-650 received the Arkansas StateWomen’s Bowling Association 250 and 650 awards, and Angela Daniel with 251-603 the 250 award at Central Lanes in Hot Springs.

Megan Moore with 242-662 picked up the 650 award in the Friday Mixed at Millennium Bowl.

Marian James with 236-636; Misti Curry with 246-676 the 650 award, and Donna Byers with 266-699 picked up both awards in Benton’s Finest Ladies; Rachel Perez with 258-693 both awards in the Thursday Men’s; Mark Cornish threw a gutter ball, picked up 7-pins and struck out for 277 and the 11 strikes-in-arow award in the Wednesday Mixed at Enterprise Lanes.
