TEXARKANA A homeless Texarkana man has pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor bestiality charge involving a horse.
Prosecutors say 57-year-old Harry Johnson was released for time served after entering the plea Wednesday in Miller County District Court. Johnson had rejected a plea deal offered last week but prosecutors say his court-appointed attorney was able to change his mind.
Johnson was arrested in August when a motorist called police to report Johnson having sex with a horse.
The following is an account of allegations against Johnson, according to the arresting officer’s report:
As the Texarkana, Ark., Police Department patrolman neared the scene, he noticed two people standing by a car in an adjacent driveway and approached them.
“One subject was standing with his mouth open and pointing to the horse,” the report said.
The officer observed Johnson “standing close behind” the horse as he made “motions with his hips, that led me to believe he was having sexual intercourse with the horse,” the report stated.
When the officer jumped a metal gate to get closer to Johnson and the horse, the noise alerted Johnson to his presence, “... and he backed away from the horse and began pulling at the front of his pants ...” the report said.
Johnson began to jog away but eventually complied with the officer’s command to stop and get down on the ground.

Well, his name foreshadowed his fate, anyway.
