Some graduates of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff say they are upset at the prices hotels are charging for homecoming weekend.
Individual alumni have worked to organize a boycott of hotels for the Oct. 24 weekend. Administrators at the university and the UAPB Alumni Association say they don't have a role in the boycott and that they do not endorse it.
Hotel operators say it is a standard practice to have higher rates when demand is at a peak. UAPB Chancellor Lawrence A. Davis Jr. says he wants alumni and other supporters to spend at local businesses to help the city's economy.
