LR woman shot during home intrusion

A Little Rock woman was shot in the leg when three men wearing shirts that said "Police" on them forced their way into her home, according to authorities. An alarm apparently scared them away.

Officers responding to the home intrusion at 85 Broadmoor found Rachel Griffin Woods, 33, with a gunshot wound to the upper leg. She was transported to St. Vincent Medical Infirmary for treatment.

She told officers that she and her children were in the house when she heard banging on the carport door and a man calling out "Little Rock police." Before she could disarm the alarm, one of the men kicked in the door and caused the alarm to activate.

The man then shot her in the leg with a handgun and demanded money. Two others entered the house behind him, but all three fled as the alarm blared.

Griffin's daughter heard her mother yelling for help and saw the three men in the house.

Griffin described the first man as black, 20-30 years of age, with a goatee, dressed in all black with a T-shirt that had "POLICE" in large letters on the front. She said the other two men also were black, wore all black with the same type of shirt, but that they wore pull-over masks.

Griffin said the suspects were driving a light green SUV.
