Paul K. Holmes III has been nominated by President Barack Obama for the U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Arkansas. He must now be confirmed by the Senate.

In December 2009, Sens. Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor recommended Holmes for the vacancy that was created by the Honorable Robert T. Dawson assuming senior status.

Holmes is currently a partner at Warner, Smith & Harris PLC in Fort Smith and was formerly a U.S. Attorney for the Western District.

“I am pleased that the President has nominated P.K. Holmes as a U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Arkansas,” Lincoln said. “P.K. Holmes has exceptional credentials and an outstanding reputation both as a lawyer and a leader in his community."

“P.K. Holmes’ wide range of experience and strong commitment to a fair, impartial legal system makes him an outstanding nominee for Arkansas’s Western District,” Pryor said. “I look forward to introducing him to my colleagues during the confirmation process. I am confident Mr. Holmes will serve our state well.”

Holmes is currently a partner at Warner, Smith & Harris PLC in Fort Smith and was the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas from 1993-2001. He earned his law degree from the University of Arkansas.
