BAY — The Craighead County town of Bay is the latest in Arkansas to display the national motto “In God We Trust” on public property.
Bay’s council voted earlier this month on a resolution that says the motto should be displayed “permanently and prominently” in city hall. Bay’s recorder-treasurer, Sandi Ladd Griffin, hung the display in the building’s foyer last week.
According to Preston Dunn of Blytheville, the founder of the website www.ingodwetrust-arkansas.org, at least 17 other Arkansas towns have approved similar displays.
Bay Mayor Darrell Kirby says city leaders had heard about the displays and wanted to do the same in their town.
