PINE BLUFF Jefferson County authorities say they’ve recovered from the Arkansas River the body of a man who apparently drowned after a boating accident.
Sheriff’s Maj. Lafayette Woods Sr. said the body of Mark Manson was found about 8 p.m. Wednesday after a daylong search near Island Harbor Marina.
Woods said Manson’s brother, Chris Manson, told deputies that the two had been in a small boat with a dog Tuesday afternoon when an accident dumped both brothers and the dog into the water. According to Chris Manson, he left his brother in shallow water while he and the dog swam back to the boat, but when he looked back for his brother, Mark Manson was nowhere to be seen.
