FAYETTEVILLE University of Arkansas officials say $86.7 million in private donations to the school during the fiscal year that ended June 30 set a new high, up 17 percent from a record set the year before.
A news release from the university Thursday said the campus at Fayetteville recorded gifts from 41,650 benefactors during the 2010 fiscal year. The release said last year's total of donors was 32,194.
According to the release, the year also saw the highest number of first-time donors, with 12,002 new benefactors compared to the previous year's 10,389.
The $86.7 million total includes gifts of cash, gifts-in-kind, planned gifts and new pledges received from July 1, 2009, through June 30, 2010. Of the total, $14.8 million was designated to support athletics and the Razorback Foundation.
