The U.S. Department of Labor has secured nearly $62,000 in back overtime wages for 21 current and former health care workers of Davis Life Care Center Inc. in Pine Bluff.
Officials said Monday the Wage and Hour Division’s Arkansas-Oklahoma District Office found that Davis Life Care Center violated the Fair Standards Labor Act by not paying its employees the proper overtime compensation.
The agency says the company failed to combine hours worked from both of its locations to determine the overall hours worked in a week.
According to the agency, covered employees must be paid at least the federal minimum wage of $7.25 for all hours worked, plus time and one-half for hours worked beyond 40 per week.
An administrator didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment Monday afternoon.

Wow. Where was the U. S. Department of Labor when Lowe's was cheating its employees chinese overtime for years. When they stopped the practice after a rinky dink class action lawsuit, most of the current and former Lowe's employees only received around $100.00 for their troubles. On a good day chinese overtime paid about $4.50 and on a bad day around $2.65 per hour. The Bush administration looked the other way the whole time. You still pay twice now because a third to half of their employees are eligible for earned income credit, public housing, ArKids and other public assistance subsidized by middle class taxpayers. Think about it the next time you shop at Lowe's.

If an employer doesn't pay what you want, then a worker can go somewhere to earn more if he is qualified for a better job. I may have been qualified for better jobs. I either decided not to take the job,or I was not hired, when I applied. I have quit good jobs, and I am enjoying being
retired. Too soon old to late smart.
