PSC to open inquiry into Entergy Arkansas

By The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

This article was published February 11, 2010 at 2:42 p.m.

The Arkansas Public Service Commission said Thursday that it is opening an inquiry that could force Entergy Arkansas Inc. to become a stand-alone utility separate from its parent company, Entergy Corp.

Entergy Arkansas’ involvement in Entergy Corp.’s system agreement — which involves electricity generation and transmission among Entergy’s utility subsidiaries in four states — has cost Arkansas consumers more than $4.5 billion since 1985, the commission said.

Entergy Arkansas gave notice in December 2005 that it would withdraw from the agreement as of December 2013 but remain an Entergy Corp. operating company.

As a former employee of Entergy. Some one should check records of when this company was forced by Ark.Atty General to sell its ownership of office buildings, equipment, and then pay to Mississippi for the defaulted power of Miss. Entergy. We once had a power co. designed for low cost power to Arkansas. And Arkansas Entergy applied for request to seperate from Entergy. Time table made it 2013. it is for the good of Arkansas that this happens.
