LR man accused of setting fire to house, car

A Little Rock man is facing two counts of arson after he allegedly set fire to a house and a nearby parked car.

Larry Butler, 59, is being held in the Pulaski County Detention Center in lieu of a $5,500 bond.

Crews were called shortly before 2 this morning to extinguish fires to a residence at 2321 S. Valentine St. and to a Pontiac Bonneville parked at 2307 S. Valentine St.

The house suffered an estimated $5,000 in damage, according to an arrest report filed in Little Rock District Court. The resident told investigators he awakened to a loud noise and then discovered the blaze.

A resident at 2307 S. Valentine St. told officers he heard a noise, saw the car's hood on fire and then spotted Butler running down the street, according to a police incident report. The Pontiac suffered an estimated $200 in damage.

Butler was located a short time later at 3300 W. Roosevelt Road and arrested.

No information on a motive was included in the reports.

No one was injured in either fire.
