Authorities have arrested two Pulaski County residents after discovering more than 60 large marijuana plants underneath their home.

Jeremy Calk, 35, and Melanie Hulsey, 23, are each facing charges of manufacturing marijuana.

Deputies responded to 7600 Raines Cove last night to investigate a 911 hangup. Authorities went inside after seeing a door that appeared to have been broken out in a possible disturbance, said Lt. Cody Burk. Inside, deputies found an woman who was unresponsive due to alcohol consumption as well as marijuana, Burk said.

Investigators returned this morning with a search warrant and found an extensive grow operation in the crawl space. It was reportedly outfitted with lights, heaters, a watering system, fertilizer and more. In addition to 62 mature marijuana plants, Burk said authorities found many more smaller ones and a box of processed marijuana.

"It's unusual that we'd find one this extensive with this many plants," Burk said. "Its something we don't run into a lot."

Authorities remained on scene late this morning, going through the residence and pulling out the marijuana and other evidence. Burk said a large pile of marijuana plants outside the door about 10 a.m. was only a quarter of the total.

He said Calk told detectives the plants were for personal use only.

"However, it's hundreds of plants," Burk said. "We're looking at it as a manufacturing operation."
