Arrest made in kidnapping case

— A 21-year-old woman who was found Thursday night with an infant who had been reported missing that morning is now facing criminal charges in the case.

Domonique Brown made an initial appearance in Sherwood District Court this morning on charges of kidnapping, theft of property and endangering the welfare of a minor.

The disappearance of 2-month-old Jametria Patrice Dickerson from her Sherwood home about 10 a.m. prompted a Level 1 Morgan Nick AMBER Alert. The girl was located unharmed just before 6 p.m. in Little Rock with Brown and two men. All three adults were taken in for questioning but the men were released when it was determined they were not involved with the abduction, said Sherwood Police Department Lt. Chery Williams.

Williams said Brown has made no statements to police, so it's unclear what her motive was in taking the girl.

Police say Brown had been living with the family in their apartment at 101 Manson Road for about five days after being invited by Jametria's mother to stay while helping care for the girl. Brown is an acquaintance of the mother's sister, police said.

Brown and her belongings, along with Jametria's mother's car, were also gone from the home when Jametria was reported missing. The car was later found abandoned in North Little Rock.

The girl's mother told investigators nothing leading up to the abduction suggested any problems.

"She was very surprised when she got home and the baby, the baby's clothes and Miss Brown were gone," Williams said.

Brown will be moved to the Pulaski County Detention Facility today, authorities said. She is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond.
