Small earthquake hits northeastern Arkansas

— A small earthquake has rattled parts of northeastern Arkansas but caused no damage or injuries.

The quake on Wednesday in Lawrence County was measured at magnitude 3.3 on the Richter scale by the U.S. Geological Survey. Its epicenter was located off State Highway 117 near Smithville.

Lawrence County Sheriff Dan Ellison says the quake lasted about five seconds. He says his office received numerous phone calls asking about the tremor.
