Federal authorities say people posing as phone technicians tried to interfere with the phone system in U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu’s New Orleans office.
An FBI affidavit says four people were arrested Monday. At least two of them were dressed in work clothes and construction hats and claimed they were technicians for a telephone company.
It’s not clear from the affidavit why they might have been trying to interfere with the system.
A message seeking comment has been left with Landrieu, a moderate Democrat. She’s been in the news recently because she negotiated an increase in Medicaid funds for her state before announcing her support for Senate health care legislation.
