— WHITE COUNTY Missing man’s body found in Bradford

BRADFORD - A missing Louisiana man was found dead in the Departee Creek Wildlife Management Area near Bradford on Sunday, according to a White County Sheriff’s Department press release. An Arkansas Game and Fish officer ran a check on a parked 1996 red Ford Ranger at the wildlife management area, and the vehicle license plate was registered to Eugene Young, a missing person out of Delhi, La.

The officer requested assistance from the White County Sheriff’s Department, and deputies searched for Young in the surrounding area. Deputies searched until dark, then resumed the search the next morning. Sheriff ’s Department personnel located Young’s body less than a milenorth of where his truck had been found, according to the release.

White County Coroner David Powell responded to the scene.

Young had been confirmed missing and had not been seen by family members since 12:30 p.m. June 23. Family members had reported to Delhi law enforcement that Young had been suffering from dementia.

Young’s body was turned over to Powell. There did not appear to be any signs of foul play, the press release states.

Groundskeepers awarded SEARCY - Searcy School District groundskeepers - director Raymond Reynolds, Jim Taylor, Oray Waslick and Bobby Allen - were nationally recognized by Pioneer Athletics and given a Field of Excellence Award for their careof the playing field at Lion Field.

Tax to be refunded SEARCY - At its June 22 meeting, the Searcy City Council passed an ordinance, after its third and final reading, to issue refunds from the Searcy Advertising and Tourism Promotions tax. The refunds will begin July 23 to taxpayers who fill out forms and can produce the original receipts that show the A&P tax. The money left in the fund after the 180-day refund period will be issued to the Searcy Parks and Recreation Department.

CLEBURNE COUNTY Concord hires marshal CONCORD - The Concord City Council recently hired a full-time townmarshal. Certified law-enforcement officer Danny Roberts will receive an annual salary of $29,000, along with life- and health-insurance benefits.

INDEPENDENCE COUNTY Airport plans improvements BATESVILLE - The Batesville Regional Airport will receive a grant for $425,254 from the Federal Aviation Administration for the aircraft parking apron to allow for additional aircraft.

LONOKE COUNTY Sheriff’s Office seeks fans The Lonoke County Sheriff’s Officeis seeking support for the office’s fan drive. Lt. James Kulesa said the Sheriff’s Office is grateful for all the support;

however, the office is out of fans. Anyone who wishes to help may call the Sheriff ’s Office at (501) 676-3001 or (501) 676-3000.

Sheriff’s Office prepares for July 4 celebrations The Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office plans to take every measure to ensure safe roadways during the Fourth of July weekend.

Deputies will participate in the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration Fourth of July campaign, along with other law-enforcement agencies, through Monday. There will be zero tolerance, and there will be saturation patrols and safety checkpoints throughout the county.
