Trailer carrying gasoline and diesel fuel tips over near Crystal Hill exit on I-40
Westbound lanes of Interstate 40 in North Little Rock will be closed for at least several hours, officials said, after a trailer carrying a split load of gasoline and diesel fuel overturned Monday afternoon.
The truck was near the Crystal Hill exit on I-40 when the accident occurred.
Mark Shoemaker of the North Little Rock Fire Department said the lanes would be shut down or heavily restricted for at least several hours.
Arkansas State Police say traffic is being rerouted to Arkansas Highway 365 as another truck was expected to come in and offload the fuel, a process that was expected to take hours.
Motorists are advised to find another route to take.
At 4:45 p.m., westbound traffic backed up more than 3 miles from the wreck scene past the Interstate 30 interchange.
The truck is now on the side of the road but not leaking. A pickup was also thought to be involved in the accident somehow.
The driver was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries.
