A 4-year-old boy drowned Monday while with his family at Greers Ferry Lake.
The family had just pulled its boat up to shore and all were swimming near the Mid Way Bridge area when they discovered that Lane Mathews was missing, according to the Cleburne County sheriff's office.
A search began on land, and a diver with a rescue crew searched the water. Greers Ferry Fire Department First responders, Cleburne County Search and Rescue, and Greers Ferry Police Department personnel responded.
Lane was found in the water and live-saving efforts began.
He was transported to Baptist Medical Center in Heber Springs where continued efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
