Earnings report

— Companies reporting quarterly earnings Wednesday included:

AMR, parent company of American Airlines, a loss of $10.7 million, or 3 cents a share, from a loss of $390 million, or $1.39 a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 16 percent to $5.7 billion. Shares fell 23 cents to close at $6.62.

Coca-Cola Co., the world’s largest beverage maker, a profit of $2.37 billion, or $1.02 a share, up from $2.04 billion, or 88 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 5 percent to $8.67 billion. Shares rose 84 cents to close at $54.08.

Eaton Corp., the maker of hydraulics and electrical equipment, a profit of $226 million, or $1.33 a share, up from $29 million, or 17 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose to $3.4 billion. Shares rose $4.08 to close at $73.14.

United Technologies Corp., parent company of jet-engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney, Otis Elevator and Sikorsky Aircraft, a profit of $1.11 billion, or $1.20 a share, up from $976 million, or $1.05 a share, a year ago. Revenue rose to $13.89 billion. Shares fell 51 cents to close at $67.03.
