Searcy: Summer Dinner Theatre wraps up with Nunsense II

— Searcy Summer Dinner Theatre will close out another record season at Harding University with Nunsense II: The Second Coming by Dan Goggin, today through Sunday and Thursday, July 29, through Saturday, July 31.

A sequel to last year’s hit, Nunsense, this year’s play is set six weeks after the sisters have staged their first benefit concert. The group is back to present a “thank you” show for all the people who supported them in the past. The sisters are a bit slicker, having been bitten by the “theater bug,” and things get off to arousing start. But chaos erupts when two Franciscans come to claim Sister Mary Amnesia - who has just won the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes - as one of their own.

At the same time, the nuns hear that a talent scout is in the audience to see them strut their stuff. From the riotous bingo game run by Sister Amnesia to the hilarious duet, “What Would Elvis Do?” to the rousing finale, “There’s Only One Way to End Your Prayers and That’s to Say Amen!” this show will have the audience rolling with laughter.

Nunsense II brings backNunsense stars Dottie Frye as Reverend Mother Mary Regina, Alice-Anne Light as Sister Mary Amnesia and Mary McBride as Sister Robert Anne.

Rounding out the cast is Heather Stringfellow as Sister Mary Hubert and newcomer Noelani Wilkinson as Sister Mary Leo. Music direction is by Brad Light, and the production is directed by Steven Frye.

The show will be performed with dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the show beginning at 7:30. All seats are reserved. Tickets are $25 each or $15 for show-only seats.
