Families of Ark. flood victims return for reunion

— Family members of those killed in the flash floods at a western Arkansas campground last month say they’ll always view the community that sheltered and assisted them as a second home.

Relatives of the 20 people killed in the June 11 flash floods at the Albert Pike Recreation Area returned to the church Saturday that served as a gathering spot for families and emergency workers following the disaster.

The family members toured the campground and gathered at the Pilgrim Rest Landmark Missionary Baptist Church for a dinner. Several relatives planned to attend services at the church on Sunday morning.

Graig Cowart, the church’s pastor, said the family members wanted to reunite at the church for closure from the June floods and for a chance to thank volunteers and rescuers.
