Chavez warns of US oil cutoff in Colombia dispute

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is threatening stop selling oil to the United States if his country is attacked by its U.S.-allied neighbor Colombia.

Chavez says in the event of an “armed aggression against Venezuela ... we would suspend shipments of oil to the United States.”

He said Sunday that “we wouldn’t send one more drop.”

The Venezuelan leader severed diplomatic ties with Colombia on Thursday after that nation presented photos, videos and maps of what it said were Colombian rebel camps inside Venezuela.

The United States is the top buyer of Venezuelan oil.
