ENTERTAINMENT NOTES Beauty and the Beast musical to start Walton center series

— NETworks Presentations’ touring production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast - music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman, with additional songs by Menken and Tim Rice, book by Linda Woolverton, based on the Disney animated film - will open Walton Arts Center’s Procter & Gamble Broadway Series from Tuesday-Aug. 8 in the center’s Baum Walker Hall, 495 W. Dickson St., Fayetteville.

Curtain times: 7 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and Aug. 3-5, 8 p.m. Friday and Aug. 6, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday and Aug. 7 and 2 and 7 p.m. Aug. 1 and 8.

The Thea Foundation Summer Art Program Exhibition with works in a variety of media by artists ages 8-18, will be on display 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 5-12 at the Thea Foundation Center for the Arts, 401 Main St., North Little Rock.

Theater meeting

The Arkansas Community Theater Association will hold its third annual meeting Aug. 14 at the Ken Theatre, 103 E. Second St. in McCrory.

Registration begins at 8:15 a.m.; the welcome and business meeting starts at 9:15, followed by educational sessions.

Christmas present

The Eureka Springs Downtown Network is sponsoring a giveaway to bring one family to the town for its annual Christmas Festival from Dec. 2-12.

The “Come Back to Eureka Springs Holiday Package” includes a four-night stay at the Grand Central Hotel from Dec. 2-5, along with gift certificates for DeVito’s Restaurant and the Mud Street Cafe, tickets for four to the Christmas Show at Pine Mountain Music and Comedy Theater, the Christmas Tour of Homes, the Christmas Ball, the Great Passion Play and Santa’s Brunch atthe Crescent Hotel. The winners will also ride in the Eureka Springs Christmas Parade of Lights.
