tri-lakes voices QWhat is your favorite summer vacation destination? And why?

— AMy family used to go to the Saline River and float in our inner tubes and let our boys play with the rocks. We played in the river under the freeway, and after a few minutes, the ice cream man would come through. We would get ice cream and sit the boys on a towel to eat, but the littlest one would take out his gumball eyeballs and throw them in the water, and then he and his brother would chase them. His uncle would tell them every day that he wouldn’t get them another ice cream again, but every day he did anyway. Worried about E. coli, we didn’t go this year, but boy, was it good, cool and cheap fun. Maybe next year.

JANIS WILSON Haskell We love to vacation in the Kissimmee and Orlando, Fla., area. When I mention Orlando, I know it’s hard not to just think Disney, but the entire area is an overwhelmingly enjoyable vacation spot.

There are seven Disney parks and all kinds of water parks. We have been going there now for 25 years, and the trip is never the same.

GEORGIANNA FREEMAN Sheridan My favorite vacation spot is Gulf Shores, Ala. I had a good vacation there with a group of my family a few years ago.

Everything was so peaceful and pretty there. We were going to go back, but the group canceled after the oil spill was announced.

ANGELA ROSS Benton next week: QIf you had an extra $100, what would you spend it on?
