UA’s George helps U.S. take gold

Arkansas sophomore Regina Georgia helped the United States win gold in the 4x400-meter relay at the IAAF World Junior Championships on Sunday in Moncton, Canada.

George anchored the relay as the U.S. team won in 3 minutes, 31.20 seconds. Other members of the relay team were Diamond Dixon, Stacey-Ann Smith and Laura Roesler.

“When I got the baton in first, I didn’t want anybody to catch me. I thought, I’m going to bring it home, I’m going to bring in the gold,” said George, who earlier in the week finished sixth in the 400 meters.

Arkansas sophomore Caleb Cross finished fifth in the finals of the 110-meter hurdles. He was among the leaders late in the race but clipped the ninth hurdle and had an awkward misstep when his foot hit the track, making him off-balance for a split second.
