2 men killed, one hurt in two separate accidents

— Two separate accidents Sunday and Monday on Arkansas roadways killed two people, according to preliminary Arkansas State Police fatality accident reports.

At 11:44 p.m. Sunday, Leonard Lafferty, 46, of Memphis was traveling on Interstate 40 in Crittenden County headedeast in the westbound lanes. Lafferty’s vehicle struck a vehicle head-on driven by Luther Dent, 33, of Heth, who was traveling west.

Lafferty was pronounced dead at the scene. Dent was taken to Crittenden Regional Hospital, where the extent of his injuries was not available Tuesday.

In Craighead County, Christopher Rush, 42, of Monette was traveling south on County Road 531 just north of County Road 514 at 5:12 a.m. Monday when he lost control of his vehicle. Rush’s 1992 Chevrolet left the road and rolled over, partially ejecting Rush, who died at the scene.
