WASHBURN, Mo. — FBI Director Robert Mueller says he’s waiting to hear how many of his agents may have cheated on an important test about new rules for surveillance.
Agents were tested on new rules that allow them to conduct surveillance and open cases without evidence that a crime has been committed.
Mueller was asked about an Associated Press report on the cheating scandal while testifying Wednesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Mueller said he had a general idea of the number of agents involved but did not provide hard numbers. The AP reported the Justice Department is investigating hundreds of FBI agents.
FBI agents were supposed to get 26 hours of training on the rules and take the open-book test without assistance.
