John Tom Browning opened Browning’s with his son-in-law, Boyd Montgomery, in 1946, not by himself as was stated in articles published Thursday and March 4, 2005. Montgomery left the business the next year, but bought the restaurant from Browning in 1958 and sold the restaurant to the Phelan family in 1981. The years that Montgomery bought and sold the business were incorrect in both articles. Browning’s middle name also was wrong in Thursday’s article.
