NLR teen gains Boys Nation post

— Alex Geiger of North Little Rock has been named vice president of the American Legion Boys Nation.

The 17-year-old Geiger, a senior from Episcopal Collegiate School in Little Rock, was elected vice president for the 2010 program in Washington, D.C., this week. Geiger took his oath of office Wednesday morning.

He plans to attend Morehouse College in Atlanta with the goal of becoming a minister.

Joseph Kieklak, a senior from Fayetteville High School, is the other Arkansan selected for Boys Nation activities in Washington.

Each American Legion Boys Nation delegate represents his home state as a senator. The senators caucus at the beginning of the session, organize into committees and conduct hearings on bills, allowing delegates to learn the U.S. Senate’s legislative procedures.
