Keep it clean

— Power Rake

What is this thing?

The Power Rake is a multipurpose lawnmower blade that can clean up your yard in three ways: It can dethatch, rake or scalp the grass.

Why is that good?

Because doing these jobs using a mower saves you a great deal of time and physical labor.

How does it work?

You attach the 16-inch blade to a mower and adjust the nylon lines to the desired height. When the lines brush the top of the grass, the blade rakes up leaves, grass clippings and lawn debris. Set the nylon lines at 1 /4 inch above the soil, and the blade dethatches. Keep the nylon lines in constant contact with the soil and the blade scalps the lawn in preparation for reseeding.

Does it fit on all mowers?

No. But Arnold, the company that makes the rake, says it fits more than 85 percent of mowers. It comes with washers to adapt to different size center hole hubs. Replacement ny

lon lines ($4.99) are available. According to a number of online reviewers, the lines don’t last long. There are also replacement spring tines.

Price:

Suggested retail price is $21.99, but shop around online for better deals. Arnold products are widely sold at home improvement, hardware and farm supply stores, as well as online.
