DISCO INFERNO 300 Vintage Affair guests get down for cancer relief

— Polyester and Afros. Psychedelic colors and Naugahyde. Platform shoes and fondue.

The disco beat was thumping June 10 at “A Vintage Affair,” the annual fundraiser for the local chapter of American Cancer Society. This year’s theme was the Solid Gold ’70s and the 300 guests took it seriously - donning bellbottom pants, slinky shirts and lots of bling.

Pleasant Valley Country Club was transformed into a disco utopia, complete with a lounge area outfitted with faux leather couches and oversized lamps. As guests entered the club, they passed a Scooby Do-style “Mystery Van.”

The spread was a smorgasbord featuring potato chips and onion dip, meatballs, cheese dip and chips, a mashed potato bar and a fondue station.

Kara Wright chaired the event, which raised $62,000 for the organization.
