HOT, HOT DOGS Beebe bash grills up $9,000

— About 300 guests braved the late Sunday afternoon heat to attend the fourth annual Beebe Backyard Burger Bash, hosted by the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion Association on June 13.

Ginger and Gov. Mike Beebe and association members mingled with guests under a fan-fortified white tent set up just east of the Grand Hall of the mansion. Attendees enjoyed burgers, hot dogs, chips, slaw, cookies, ice cream and lemonade while listening to music provided by Elizabeth and Victoria Taylor of Searcy, granddaughters of the Beebes.

Enjoying the summertime-picnic atmosphere were Rick Fleetwood, Gary Davis, Connie and Ed Bennett, Renee Shapiro, Carla Davis, Matt McLeod, Alison and Steve Cook, Dr. Lynette Br yant, Mar y Brown, Joan Trusty, Rebecca and Grant Tennille and daughter Anna, Janice Stanford, Lauren Stroud, Mary Christians, Barrie Hardin, Betty Bradshaw, Marjie and John Blair of McNeil, Joanne and Bob Richardson of Warren, and Jane Christenson of Harrison.

The event brought in $9,000 for the association, an independent, nonprofit organization that raises money for the ongoing restoration and preservation of the mansion.Each of its members is nominated and voted on by the association to serve a threeyear term.
