Jailer under review after Playboy pose

— A Washington County jailer who recently told Playboy.com that she hopes to become an undercover officer is now going uncovered on the company’s website as the June 7 Cybergirl of the Week.

The website describes Jessie Lunderby, 21, as a “detention officer for a county sheriff’s department which has her well on ... her way to realizing her ambition to be an undercover cop or work for the drug task force.” The site also lists Lunderby’s hometown as Fayetteville.

According to Maj. Rick Hoyt of the Washington County sheriff’s office, Lunderby is the subject of an internal investigation to determine if she violated departmental policy by posing for the site.

Hoyt said the policies beinginvestigated include “conduct unbecoming of an officer or employee of the department,” along with “failure to get permission to work at an off-duty job.” If the investigation determines that Lunderby violated either policy, she could face disciplinary action, he said, which could include a verbal reprimand, suspension or termination.

“I won’t say what’s being contemplated because that hasn’t been discussed,” Hoyt said. “If you’re going to work off-duty jobs and receive compensation, we have a written process where you describe the kind of job it is and request permission. We also have a policy that says you can’t work at some types of jobs and one of those has to do with sexual conduct.

“If you work here and you want to apply to be a poledancer at a gentlemen’s club, that request would be denied. The same thing goes for jobs at liquor stores, bail bonding companies and any other job that’s a conflict of interest.”

Lunderby, who began working for the sheriff’s office in 2007, was still employed by the department Friday.

Online messages sent to Lunderby via her Facebook page had not been returned Friday afternoon.

“She made no request to work an outside job and received compensation from Playboy,” Hoyt said. “We’ve been aware that she’s had a modeling job for some time. Everything we’d heard about it had to do with implied nudity, which means she wasn’t completely nude.”

The findings of the investigation will likely be released sometime soon, he said.
