PB aldermen to take up club closing times

— Pine Bluff’s council is set to consider an ordinance that would repeal closing times for some private clubs.

The council will meet Monday to hear a reading of the proposal by Alderwoman Thelma Walker that City Attorney Carol Billings says would essentially remove the city from regulating private clubs.

Another proposal by Walker would allow nine private clubs to serve alcohol until 5 a.m. and require them to be closed from 5:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Current city ordinances allow those clubs to serve alcohol until 3 a.m. but says they must be closed from 3:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
