BAUXITE — The Bauxite School District in Saline County is asking for a school millage increase to help lower debt payments, build a road and to pay for staff and maintenance at the new middle school.
The election is today.
The 2.9-mill increase would put the district’s rate at 38.6. The current rate is 35.7 mills.
District officials say the increase would help pay for the staff and maintenance at the recently constructed Bauxite Middle School, allow the district to lower annual debt payments and to build a road off Arkansas 183 to provide better and safer access to both the middle school and Bauxite High School.
