Fayetteville man pleads guilty in fraud

A federal prosecutor says a former lawyer from Fayetteville has pleaded guilty to a pair of fraud charges stemming from theft of more than $240,000 from a trust account the man once managed as a lawyer.

A news release from the U.S. attorney’s office for the Western District of Arkansas said Raymond E. Bornhoft had entered the pleas at Fayetteville before U.S. District Judge Jimm Larry Hendren.

The release said Bornhoft — who has surrendered his license to practice law — pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud and one count of mail fraud.

According to the release, Bornhoft disbursed $244,002 from the Greene Family Revocable Trust in 2005, and converted the money to his own use.

Bornhoft is to be sentenced at a later date.
