Man robs bank in Conway, flees

— A man wearing a T-shirt and blue plaid shorts robbed a Centennial Bank branch in Conway on Monday afternoon, police said.

The man walked in the bank at East Oak Street and German Lane about 4:30 p.m. and handed a teller a note demanding money, said officer Chris Harris, a spokesman for the Conway Police Department.

The note claimed the man was armed, but he never displayed a weapon, Harris said.

The teller gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash and the man fled, heading west, Harris said.

The man was described as white with tan skin, in his late 20s to early 30s, about 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing about 240 pounds, Harris said. He was balding, with closecropped brown hair. The Tshirt was dark gray with white lettering, Harris said. The man also wore black and white Converse tennis shoes.

No arrests had been made late Monday.
